Login silently returns to login page or "500 Internal server error" problems? Try clearing cookies


If you are having problems logging in that are not resolved by password reset --- two common cases are:

  1. When you enter your password, you are brought back to the login page rather than to your user page, but no error message; or
  2. You receive some sort of "500: Internal Server Error" message
... please try clearing your browser's cookies.  (For some browsers, such as Chrome, it seems to suffice to clear only the TACL-site-specific cookies.)


If you were in the midst of submitting a review when the 500 error happened, be reassured that there is a good chance that the text is probably still in the system.  To get back to it:

  1. Log in again
  2. Go to your "Reviewer" page
  3. Click on the submission you were reviewing.  
  4. Resume working on your review.
